How mobile will I be without a car?

You can travel around Ulm and Neu-Ulm easily by tram and bus as well as by bike and on foot. The surrounding areas, known as Alb-Donau-Kreis, are also served by the local transport organisation Donau-Iller-Nahverkehrsverbund, known as DING.

Using the Internet timetable , you can view all routes, times and maps and so create your own itinerary.

Transport at night

There are 7 night bus lines which connect all the Ulm and Neu-Ulm areas. The night buses leave at 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30 from the Ulm bus station on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays.

Where the lines intersect, you can take a shared-taxi (NachtSAM-Linien). This will take you at timetabled times from your bus stop to the door of where you are staying – or vice versa. These NachtSAM taxis commute only after ordering by telephone and you should call 30 minutes before you need the taxi.

What does travel by public transport cost?

On weekdays from 7pm and at the weekends and on public holidays, you can use your student ID card (Campus Card) to travel free on public transport inside the entire DING-network area.

You can also buy a Semester Ticket by showing your Campus Card. This is valid for one semester and for all DING-Network area public transport 24 hours a day. The Semester Ticket costs 79 Euro and can only be used by one person and only together with the Campus Card. You can obtain the Semester Ticket at the following places:
  • SWU KundenCenter traffiti, Münsterplatz 51, Ulm
  • RAB Kundencenter, Bahnhofsplatz 11, Ulm
  • DB Reise & Touristik, Bahnhofsplatz 11, Ulm
  • DB Ticket Offices in the DING area
